Her upcoming solo exhibition\, 4 the Love of Virginia\, is a visual love letter to the diverse landscapes of her adopted home state. \nDrawing upon more than two years of exploration across Virginia’s five distinct geographic regions—the Coastal Plain (Tidewater)\, Piedmont\, Blue Ridge Mountains\, Valley and Ridge\, and Appalachian Plateau—this body of work captures the spirit and diversity of the state’s natural beauty. Each region\, with its own character and charm\, has uniquely shaped the artist’s creative vision. \nApproximately 75% of the works in 4 the Love of Virginia were painted on location\, allowing viewers to experience the immediacy and authenticity of plein air artistry. The remaining 25% are larger\, more expressionistic pieces in oil and cold wax\, developed from plein air studies. These studio works convey the artist’s emotional and interpretive response to the landscapes that have moved her most deeply. \n4 the Love of Virginia is more than an exhibition—it is an invitation to explore\, reflect\, and fall in love with Virginia’s rich and varied terrain. Open Flow Friday offers an open mic\, and open art demonstration space for local artists to share their art form with an audience\, whether you are a poet\, author\, musician\, artist\, etc. This is your safe space for creativity\, community\, and self-expression! This event is free and open to the public. Ages 18 and up. \nInterested participants should plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early to add their name to the performance sign-up list.

DESCRIPTION:A reference photo can capture what a place looked like… but great art can reveal what it meant to you personally. \nThis workshop is about moving beyond simply copying a photo and learning how to transform meaningful memories into visual stories. \nThink favorite vacations. Honeymoons. Childhood memories. A place that changed you. A view you still carry with you. \nUsing examples from her solo exhibition 4 the Love of Virginia\, Christine Raymond will guide students through her personal process of uncovering the emotional heart of a place and turning it into work that feels personal\, intentional\, and alive. \nWhether their final piece becomes realistic\, impressionistic\, or abstract\, this workshop is about creating art that communicates more than a scene—it tells a story. \nPlease note that aside from a 9×12 canvas supplies WILL NOT be provided for this workshop!
