FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Arts Exploration camp is an arts-encompassing camp meant to expose youth to both visual and performing arts. The days are divided between both visual and performing arts*. Each week the camp has a theme, and our expert educators will be catering their performing and visual arts classes to match the themes. Visual arts students can expect to work in a variety of mediums, and will have a new project to bring home every day or two. Performing arts students will be playing theatre games, learning movement and vocal exercises, and using pre-written material to act out scenes and stories. A detailed account of what students will be learning each week will be sent out just before each camp.
*Youth ages 9-12 have the option of selecting all day theatre, all day visual arts, or a combination of both.
Summer Theatre Intensives are presented by our award-winning youth theatre company, ARTfactory's Pied Piper Theatre. They are three-week, full-day programs that focus on all things theatre and are taught by industry professionals. Youth in these camps are exposed to everything from auditioning to performing, culminating in full-length productions at the end of the three weeks. In an effort to serve more of our community and grow our summer programming, we are partnering with Linton Hall and are now offering an "Arts Exploration" camp for ages 5-12. These are half or full-day camps where students can explore both visual and performing arts. The only camp being held at ARTfactory this summer is our Dungeons & Dragons Camp, however, we will also be offering summer enrichment classes for youth. Those can be found on our CLASSES page.
We are still offering half-day camps! Our Arts Exploration can be either half or full-day, and our Dungeons & Dragons camp is only half-day.
We will be providing all of the supplies needed to have fun making art, but campers should bring a reusable water bottle with their name on it, closed-toe shoes, and sunscreen, as some time will be spent outside. Campers staying for a full day will need to bring their lunch - a full list of allergies for each week will be sent ahead of time to ensure the safety of all campers! Other than that, bring a willingness to learn and have fun!
This year we have added an option for pre and/or post care for all campers at the Linton Hall camps. Each option is $25 for the week, and can be added during registration.
We will not be providing lunch this summer, but we will have a supervised lunch period each day for those campers staying for a full day of camp. Allergies can be disclosed during registration, and a full list will be sent to all campers who are staying for lunch each week. Please note that the lunch period will not be available to campers partaking in just a morning or afternoon (half-day) session.
Parents will be sent an email prior to camp with important information, including who to contact in case of emergency. However, most often it is best to contact the ARTfactory directly at 703-330-2787 and a staff member can ensure your information is directed where it needs to go.
We are still actively looking for TA's ages 15 and up (think camp counselors). Anyone interested should reach out to our Education Coordinator Alex Diaz at [email protected] with a resume.
