ARTfactory's Pied Piper Theatre

Pied Piper Theatre (PPT) is ARTfactory’s youth theatre company for students aged 8-18. PPT offers students the opportunity to receive hands-on training in all aspects of theatre. Each season PPT produces three full-length productions and four intensives, as well as our audition-based program, Pied Piper Theatre Conservatory.

Overcome the notion that you must be regular. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary.

Pied Piper Theatre Productions

Our three annual full-length productions are cast by audition and are being performed at Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas. Auditions are held approximately three months prior to the performance date. For audition information, please click HERE.

It’s big hair and even bigger dreams in Hairspray the Musical! Set in 1960s Baltimore, this high-energy show follows Tracy Turnblad, a spirited teen with a passion for dance, as she fights for love, equality, and a spot on The Corny Collins Show. Bursting with catchy tunes, dazzling dances, and plenty of heart, Hairspray is a joyful celebration of acceptance and the power of being yourself!

Finding Neverland is a breathtaking musical that tells the inspiring story behind the creation of Peter Pan. When playwright J.M. Barrie forms an unexpected friendship with a widow and her four imaginative sons, he discovers the courage to embrace creativity, hope, and the power of believing in the impossible. Featuring a soaring score, dazzling visuals, and unforgettable storytelling, Finding Neverland is a magical celebration of imagination, love, and the child within us all.

A Year with Frog and Toad is a heartwarming musical that follows two best friends through the changing seasons as they share adventures both big and small. Based on Arnold Lobel's beloved children's books, the show celebrates the joys of friendship, kindness, and embracing each other's differences. Filled with charming songs, gentle humor, and memorable characters, this delightful production is perfect for audiences of all ages and reminds us that life's greatest adventures are the ones we share together.

Bye Bye Birdie is a lively, laugh-out-loud musical comedy inspired by the excitement of 1950s rock and roll. When teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie is drafted into the Army, one lucky fan is chosen for a nationally televised farewell kiss, sending an ordinary town into a whirlwind of chaos, comedy, and catchy songs. This energetic production is packed with unforgettable music, colorful characters, and timeless fun.

How to Train Your Dragon JR. brings the beloved DreamWorks adventure to the stage in an exciting musical for audiences of all ages. On the rugged island of Berk, young Viking Hiccup is expected to become a dragon slayer—but everything changes when he befriends an injured dragon named Toothless. Together, they challenge long-held traditions, proving that courage, compassion, and understanding can change the world.

Intensives Program

Pied Piper Theatre Intensives are a training program for young actors ages 8-18.

The PPT Intensive Program offers a comprehensive study of theatre which features in-depth exploration into acting, voice, and movement. Led by industry experts, sessions run in the fall, winter and summer, with tuition options available. Each intensive session ends with a full-length production. Auditions are not required for acceptance into the Intensives Program.

2026-27 Intensives include: The Day Before Christmas, our Spring Intensive (TBD), Bye Bye Birdie, and How to Train Your Dragon Jr.

Pied Piper Theatre Conservatory

PPT Conservatory productions offer a unique opportunity for youth ages 8-18 to work with experienced professionals in a rigorous environment.

Students must possess strong acting skills, be committed to a serious and intense rehearsal process, and have the ability to work well in a collaborative ensemble. Acceptance into the Conservatory is by audition only. There is no participation fee for PPT Conservatory.

The 2026 production, In The Burning Darkness by Antonio Buero-Vallejo, was performed in March and is a powerful and moving drama set in a school for the blind, where optimism and despair collide. When a new student challenges the others to confront the painful realities they’ve tried to ignore, tensions rise, revealing deep questions about truth, perception, and the human spirit. A poignant exploration of hope and disillusionment, this play shines a light on what it truly means to see.

The 2027 production will be announced this summer. Please stay tuned.
